Cultivating Character is a free OER (Open Educational Resource) learning platform that integrates character development and complex thinking into the foundational literacies needed to be successful in the 21st century.
Our project starts with safe and private character strength assessments from UPenn's Positive Personality Profiles https://www.authentichappiness.sas.upenn.edu/testcenter.engages
Students then receive wekly 15-minute transmedia modules that can be facilitated within any learning environment or used as an individual self-development practice. We start students on a discovery path to identifytheir unique strengths and ignite the passions that will support a lifelong growth mindset.
We curate open resources from professionally produced short videos like The Science of Character https://vimeo.com/79444520
Thousands of transmedia resources are filtered by character strength, age, and media type to engage students with multiple intelligences and learning styles. They are also cross-referenced into the context of 21st-century foundational skills of literacy, numeracy, scientific literacy, ICT literacy, financial literacy, cultural and civic literacy that demonstrate the practical application of the skills in choices and dilemmas faced daily in school or work environments.
Continuing from our Emmy-nominated series "The Future Starts Here" https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLkNaMIsI8oSCCknemN6FelYOV0OTfBaNT that explored what it means to be human.
